If you’ve had experience in acting before, then you know a headshot is essential for catching attention and establishing a first impression for a particular role.

Make sure your headshot captures your appearance, personality, and professionalism so that it will increase your chances of being called in for an audition!

I want to talk about costume props, particularly angel wings 🪽
These are from the amazing Kayla, @kayladouglasartistry, who designs and hand-makes these angel wings with ostrich feathers. Modelled by the talented @jessicaleemodeling and lit with Stella Light Pro S by @stellaprolights 💡
I've never considered using costume props such as angel wings, headpieces, or jewellery, however, I'm starting to warm up to the thought. I like the idea of completely transforming yourself into something you wouldn't normally do. The amazing @riclewisphotography often creates this style of image and the models always look ethereal 👼🏼
A client told me their recent experience in the studio was like going to Disneyland and now I'm curious what a "Disneyland Level" photo shoot looks like... does it include angel wings? 🕊️

One of my favourite things about Shichi-go-san is young children from different cultural families getting excited about being the star of the day ✨
It's a wonderful opportunity to immerse a young family in traditional Japanese customs 👘
I find it so fascinating to see Japanese families pass on their family heirloom kimonos to the next generation to wear at their Shichi-go-san Ceremony at their local shrine.
Yet on the flip side, see non-Japanese families participate in shichi-go-san with their children in a way that's engaging, new and adventurous 🍡
Each family from different backgrounds enjoy this celebration in very similar yet unique ways. And each of the images are precious to all of us. Myself included 🩷

Sometimes I ask clients what they thought about their experience after they've received their images 💬
Many say they felt the experience put them outside of their comfort zone and how they appreciated that feeling once they saw the results from our time together.
Many might see the end result as, "A means to an end, a simple photo." but it's a lot more than that.
Make a connection with your photographer so that they can learn what excites and delights you, what your end game is, and what your overall views of what a successful photo session would look like to you!
It makes the request, "I need a photo." evolve to "I'd like my audience to understand my purpose and goals a little bit more. How can you help me with that, Tia?"
Well, the first thing I'd say is, "Let's talk! Who are you and how can I help?" 🙌🏾

I adore the times I spend with families capturing memories 📸
My goal with any photoshoot, adult or child is to help that person's authentic self shine through. Kids are just fantastic at this because they haven't learnt any other way to be yet!
A beautifully posed family portrait is a wonderful image to capture, but sometimes, the candid cheeky smile of a child just enjoying their day ends up being the favourite photo of the day ✨

What's a conference if you don't get to play with the latest gear? 📸
It was so fantastic photographing @kaloniethemodel at one of the shooting booths.
I seldom shoot with continuous lights but this latest continuous light was just so stunning on her!
So, of course, I had to get my hands on a continuous light to bring with me to Japan!
I took it with me to Aizu for one of our 40 over 40 Experience sessions and man did that light NOT disappoint! 🤩
